Longtime Westwood Village activist Ken Alpern has been re-elected as an at-large member of the governing board of the Mar Vista Community Council.

He came in fifth in a field of nine candidates in the elections at Mar Vista Elementary School on June 26.

Those elected were Bob Fitzpatrick, with 319 votes; Albert Olson, 290; Rob Kadota, 288; Sharon Commins, 244; Alpern, 237; Colin Hatton, 223, and Bill Scheding, 198.

Runners-up were Christopher McKinnon, 184 votes, and William A. Koontz, 171.

Alpern is also a member of the board of the Westside Village Civic Association, an organization of homeowners, and is active on behalf of light-rail transit in the Westside of Los Angeles.
