MAR VISTA CHOOSES TRAFFIC FLOW AS MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF VILLARAIGOSA BUDGET
In its Jan. 10 meeting, the Board of the Mar Vista Community Council picked improved traffic flow as its top priority for inclusion in Mayor Villaraigosa's 2006-2007 budget.

The Mar Vista Board has responsibility for representing Westside Village, as well as four other areas on the other side of the 405 San Diego Freeway. Like all the other governing bodies of neighborhood councils in L.A., it had been asked to make suggestions for priorities in the Mayor's forthcoming budget.

The other priorities picked by the Mar Vista Board (which includes one homeowner of Westside Village and the manager of the Palms branch of Wells Fargo Bank) were, in the following order:

2. Livable neighborhoods.

3. Economic development.

4. Homeland security and public safety.

The MVCC Board dodged the issue of which areas to cut in the budget in the case of a shortfall by picking None of the above, a choice not included on the Mayor's survey sheet provided to it.
