Fourth meeting of the Council and its
REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY
Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005

1 • Facilitator: Call to order by George Garrigues at 7:15 p.m. after the adjournment of the Neighborhood Watch, welcome, explanation of the Ground Rules, and introduction/roll call of the members of the Representative Assembly. A quorum was established.

2 • President: Todd Robinson was absent; his opening statement was read by George Garrigues, secretary.

3 • Public forum:
Comments were made by Richard Leib and Cliff Cheng.

4 • Secretary:
Minutes of the meeting of July 19 were approved.

5 • Treasurer:
Absent; no report.

6 • Rodworks:
Comments were received pro and con from stakeholders and the applicant for a proposed conditional-use permit to Rodworks for the establishment, use and maintenance of an automotive-repair facility on the southwest corner of Overland and McCune. No action was taken.

7 • Preservation:
Due to the absence of the person making the request for this item, by general consent Item No. 7 concerning preservation of historic buildings in neighborhood council areas throughout the city was removed from the agenda.

8 • Development:
Proposed multi-use project on southwest corner of Overland Ave. and National Blvd. at 10612 W. National Blvd was referred to the Development and Land Use Committee.

9 • Outreach:
Discussion was made on a report from the Outreach and Communications Committee and motions concerning (1) initial outreach to Stakeholders via bulk and direct mail, (2) a survey of neighborhoods by district representatives for the purpose of creating an inventory of residences and of businesses and (3) an outreach to the community to locate residents who are physically challenged and who would like to participate in the Palms Neighborhood Council. No action was taken.

10 • Assembly business.
It was announced that Representative Lori Donahoo could not attend meetings on the first Wednesday of the month. By general consent the Secretary was instructed to determine which Wednesday of the month (other than the first Wednesday) would be acceptable to Representatives for regular meetings of the Council and Assembly.
