THIS IS THE FEATURE PAGE
TYPICAL LIBERAL
FLIP-FLOP
Last September we said the shortest street in our area is Ellenda Place in Westside Village, only one block long (above).
Then, in October we 'corrected' ourselves and said it was Cheviot Vista in northern Palms (at right).
Since then we have actually walked on Cheviot Vista and determined that it's really a two-block-long street on both sides of National Blvd.
So now we are back to Ellenda Place as the quintessential short street around here, and that is our final word on the subject, we think.

'Aiken' houses still stand
in Cheviot Vista Tract

'Aiken'-style houses, with their distinctive brick facing and shingled roofs, are common in the single-family districts north of the I-10 Freeway.

But, Palms, too, retains some of these old houses, built in the 1920s and now sandwiched between apartment buildings.

Four of them can be found on Cheviot Vista Place or Valparaiso Street south of National Blvd. — relics, perhaps, of more genteel times.
